WAEC Exam to be 100 per cent technology driven in 2018 - Council

The council said it has organised series of retreats for both management staff and the workforce in preparatory to deploy technology in its operations. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says it will sensitise and train its workforce on key areas of technology deployment in order to improve its operations in 2018. The council's Head, National Office (HNO), Mr. Olu Adenipekun disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos. In Jigawa Truck driver crushes 15 people to death hours to New Year celebrations

No fewer than 15 persons died in an accident involving a Sharon bus and a truck along Gujungu-Gumel road in Kaugama Local Government Area of Jigawa. Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, December 31, 2017, the spokesman of the state Police Command, SP Abdu Jinjiri said that the accident occurred on Saturday around 7:30 p.m. Jinjiri said that the Sharon vehicle which was supposed to carry seven passengers, was overloaded with 14 people. He said, "A seven passengers-capacity vehicle overloaded with 14 passengers rammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction on Gujungu-Gumel road. President's son suffers head injury in Abuja bike accident

President Muhammadu Buhari » 's only son, Yusuf Buhari, is currently hospitalised in an Abuja clinic after suffering a head injury in a bike accident in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. The president's son reportedly crashed his power bike while racing with a friend in the capital city and is hospitalised at the Cedacrest Hospital in Abuja. Ottawa police arested police shooting death of two men

Ottawa police say they have arrested a suspect in the shooting deaths of two men on Monday. Alam Gabriel Buoc have been the subject of a nationwide warrant until his arrest on Thursday night. The 30-year-old man was being sought in connection with the deaths of 26-year-old Abdulrahman Al-Shammari and 27-year-old Dirie Olol, who both died of gunshot wounds Monday. Police were also seeking a suspect in the shooting of a third man, who remains in serious condition in hospital. Officers had responded to a hospital around 7 a.m. Monday for a report of a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Police later found the body of Al-Shammari in the city's west end, and the body of Olol in an abandoned vehicle. Buoc is scheduled to appear in court Friday to face two charges of first-degree murder and one of attempted murder.

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR POST UTME SCORE [point system]

Any candidate who submits only one result which contains his/her relevant subjects already has 10 points. The exam could be NECO, WASSCE, November/December WASSCE etc, but any candidate who has two sittings only gets 2 points. O' Level grade points: Each grade would have it equivalent point; A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks. UTME scores points: where each score range has its equivalent point which can be summarised thus, 180-200=20-23 marks, 200-250=24-33 points, 251-300=34-43, 300-400=44-60 points. Jamb statement over official cutoff mark for 2017

JAMB has stated that a meeting with officials will need to be conducted, after which the Cut-Off Marks for 2017 UTME will be announced. No date has been announced for when the meeting will be conducted. JAMB insists that it has not released the cut-off mark for the 2017 examination. NAN reports that the Head, Media and Information, JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, made the clarification in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Tuesday. He said that the policy committee meeting responsible for the determination of cut-off marks had not met. According to him, it is in the best interest of candidates and other critical stakeholders to jettison cut-off marks for the various courses that are currently being paraded. Recruitment: Nigeria Immigration Warns Applicants Against Fraudsters

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has cautioned prospective applicants seeking employment into the service not to pay any money to any person or group of persons. NIS Comptroller-General, Mr Muhammad Babandede, gave the warning in a statement signed by the service Spokesperson, Mr Sunday James, on Monday in Abuja. On Monday, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Fire Service, NIS and Nigeria Prisons Service boards announced approval for recruitment. Babandede has now told applicants to follow instructions given in the advertorials. He said: "the public is hereby advised to strictly follow the instructions as specified in the advertisement. "Applicants must shun every request for monetary inducement by any person or group of persons, either in person or through fake online accounts." Over 10,000 Candidates Caught Cheating In Anambra- JAMB

The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) says more than 10,000 candidates caught for examination malpractices in the on-going UTME in Anambra have been handed over to the appropriate authority. Mrs Lynda Nwachukwu, the Coordinator of the board in Anambra disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Saturday. NAN reports that the all computer-based testing (CBT) mode 2017 UTME, which started on May 13 in 642 centres nationwide, ended on May 20. Nwachukwu said that the examination, which took place in 28 centres in the state, was successful. "There was no disruption of the exercise in any of the examination centres,'' she said. The coordinator said that the candidates adhered strictly to the requirements of the examination, adding that JAMB provided all the materials required for the examination.
